Knapp First New Face In At Arrows
The Arrows Men have secured their first new signing of the 2018/19 season by adding Liam Knapp to their playing roster.
The talented 21 year old joins the Arrows who look to build on their sixth place league finish last term. Knapp, a 6'4 shooting guard from Doncaster, was a key target identified by coach Jonny Kelly since Knapp's departure from Doncaster Danum Eagles at the end of the 2016/17 season. On securing the services of his off season target, Kelly commented:
Liam is an outstanding young player. He is one of the best young players in the area and is a huge sign that the club is heading in the right direction.
The biggest thing for me as a coach is how hungry and humble Liam is. It's these traits which make him so coachable and will be a player who is loved by Arrows Nation.
Knapp began his basketball journey with local club Doncaster Danum Eagles where he quickly made an impression with all teams he played in. His stand out performances in the Junior NBL saw Knapp recognised on a regional level as the sharp shooter was selected for the Yorkshire squad at both U15 and U17 level as well as attending England camps.
Upon graduating as a junior, Knapp experienced basketball in Europe where he represented Ascoli Basket in Italy. Knapp returned to England where he re signed for his boyhood Eagles competing against the Arrows in NBL Division 2. It was in this season that Knapp became a real NBL prospect as his scoring consistency very nearly preserved the Eagles' status in NBL Division 2.
Knapp will bring shooting prowess, strength and athleticism to an Arrows line up that begin their ninth season in Division 2. On committing to the Arrows for the upcoming season, Knapp told the Arrows website:
I'm really looking forward to joining the Arrows this season. I've known of the club through playing national league at junior and men's level. There are a lot of new faces for me, but some familiar ones too. There a great group of guys that I'm looking forward to getting out on the court with this season.
The Arrows faithful will get their first look at Knapp when the Arrows welcome Team USA Select to Dronfield on Friday 7th September.
