Baugh shines but Arrows are edged out
Encon Derbyshire Arrows 73 Myerscough 85
The Encon Derbyshire Arrows led by the truly inspirational Joseph Baugh fought throughout but could not quite overhaul a star studded and giant Myerscough team losing 85 – 73. This is the Arrows first setback in 2020 and takes their season record to 8 – 7. The Arrows trailed at the interval 45 – 40 but they could not score any easy baskets against a huge Myerscough team who lie second in the table.
Xavier McIntosh continued his fine form notching 6 points in the opening quarter. Callum McKenzie and Joseph Baugh added 4 points each but the Arrows trailed 24 – 19.
Joseph Baugh carried the attack to Myerscough in the second quarter with 9 points well supported by Jacub Parades but despite this surge the quarter was shared 21 – 21 so the Arrows trailed at the interval 45 – 40.
The third quarter also went the way of the powerful Myerscough side 25 – 15 as they took a decisive advantage at 70 – 55. The Arrows showed great spirit in the final quarter with Joseph Baugh, Callam McKenzie and Xavier McIntosh prominent but the buzzer sounded in favour of Myerscough at 85 – 73.

Coach Jonny Kelly commented “We played well today but to beat such a powerful team we need to be at our absolute best. The sheer size was difficult for us to cope with. This weeks game at home to Chester on Sunday will be vital for our chances 4.15 tip Dronfield Sports Centre. We will need the support of the whole club to get a result”.
