Arrows Pick Up Paredes
The Derbyshire Arrows Basketball Club are pleased to announce the signing of Jacob Paredes for the 2019/20 season.
Paredes, who is quickly becoming recognised as one of the sharpest shooting guards in the city, becomes the first official new signing in at the Arrows as the Derbyshire based club look to build their roster for the new season.
The signing signals a homecoming for Paredes, whose early basketball beginnings started at the Arrows with his brother and former Arrows Junior Tom Parades. Paredes decided to continue his basketball journey with the Sheffield Junior Sharks where he was consistently a stand out performer in his age group.
The 6ft guard was part of a programme that claimed three titles at Sheffield College and competed for honours on the national stage alongside former Arrow Andreas Lycoudis.
The continued hunger and hard work of the former King Edwards School student saw him begin to make a real mark at senior national league level with a string of impressive performances at Sheffield Sabres in National League Division 3.
After being on the Arrows radar for some time, the now 21 year old Paredes will represent the Arrows this upcoming season. Club captain James Kelly had this to say on the signing of Parades:
When we talked about recruitment for this season, we talked about recruiting the best young talent in the city. Jacob has definitely proved he fits in that category and I think his enthusiasm and drive to constantly improve will have an extremely positive effect on our team and our club.
On committing to the Arrows, Paredes told the club website:
I'm really excited to be joining the Arrows. I feel as though I have a lot to learn. Taking a step up to the Arrows in Division 2 will be a challenge but I'm ready!
Arrows fans will get their first look at Paredes in action when Team USA Select visit Dronfield Sports Centre on Friday 6th September.
