The Encon Derbyshire Arrows recovered from a very slow start to find their form in the second half and run out impressive winners over Leeds by 73 – 44.
The Encon Arrows struggled to find any fluency in the opening quarter and seemed off form as they trailed by 10 – 6 in the face of an enthusiastic and determined Leeds side. Saleh Ahmed and Barnaby Smith both hit baskets for the Arrows.
The Arrows began to find their feet in a more profitable second quarter and looked to be becoming at ease in their surroundings as they eventually took a 22 – 17 interval advantage. Chris Ampon was strong in attack during this period for the Arrows.
Coach James Kelly was able to make some adjustments during the interval and it was a much more typical Arrows performance in the third quarter which they took 22 – 10 to lead overall by a much more manageable 44 – 27.The Arrows scoring was more spread as Kyle Edwards, Barnaby Smith , Chris Ampon and Lloydie Askwith were all effective.
The Arrows hit full offensive throttle after the break and produced their most offensively productive quarter of the game scoring 29 points and powering to a great 73 – 44 victory. Kareem Luqmaan finally got rewards for his excellent effort and Aidan Abbott – Spooner closed the game out.
The Arrows overall record is 13 – 2 with 3 games left as they hope to secure a runner up spot in the division.
