The Arrows Under 14 team showed their dominance from tip off in this game and ran out comfortable winners 106-42 over the Bradford Dragons. The game started well with a basket for Ross Walcott and the next play a steal and layup from him also. This was a sneak preview of what was to come. Walcott and Dennison started brightly with baskets and the ability to get to the free throw line at will. The first quarter ended a comfortable lead of 29-4. A similar quarter followed in the second as more baskets from Dennison and Walcott, were well supported by Connor Hicken and a steal and layup for young Wadha Hassan. This saw the Arrows flow into a bigger lead 50-12 at the half.
The second half saw Bradford star to pick up on the offensive end with drives to the basket, this saw the end of Ross Walcott (29) mid way through the 3rd quarter. James Bennett showed his improvement in this quarter as he scored a couple of baskets as well as Ellis Salim. Connor Hicken really picked up the scoring on mass in the third quarter for the Arrows as they began to pick up steam again leaving the game at 77-26 at the break. The fourth quarter was a feast of baskets as Bradford started to open up their offense a little more, and the Arrows continued to score through the dominant Aidan Dennison. Their was good play by Adam Wood and Tom who were unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. The Arrows were able to hit the 100 mark with 2 minutes left of the game and put the cherry on top of the cake with a couple of more baskets. This finished the game off Arrows 106 Bradford Dragons 42.
The young Arrows team face Leeds Carnegie in the next game as they continue to impress. Going away to last years runners up will be a fantastic test for the team and its experienced and young players.
