The Derbyshire Arrows U14s continue their remarkable journey this season with a 101-19 victory over Durham Wildcats. They started the game slowly as the score creeped to a 12-4 lead after 5 minutes, before the Arrows bolted into action. 14 first quarter points by Ross Walcott and 6 by James Bennett got the Arrows rolling in a 32-0 run stretching 11 minutes. Adam Wood contributed his first open play basket for the Arrows as they showed their superior athleticism and skill. The first half ended with a flurry of baskets with Bennett again scoring along with Ellis Salim as the Arrows took their lead to 54-8.
The flurry at the end of the first half continued into the 3rd quarter as the Arrows built a huge 30-0 run stretching 9 minutes as yet again Walcott featured strongly as well as the reliable Aidan Dennison. The third quarter ended with a nice James Bennett layup with the scoreline continuing to increase to 78-11.
The last quarter of the game saw an improving Connor Hicken score 7 of his 15 points with some strong moves and like London buses saw Adam Wood score 3 baskets in this quarter. Wadha Hassan continued his scoring run with yet another 4 points, and there was also an impressive display by young Alex Lycoudis who displayed good ball handling and passing. The game finished with an Adam Wood set shot taking the Arrows into a 3 figure scoreline and confirmed their biggest win of the season, 101-19.
