Arrows get win against United to split games in London

Derbyshire Arrows 53 Hemel Storm 86

Hemel Storm forced Arrows into 25 turnovers on Saturday as they ran over the Derbyshire club in all four quarters en route to an 86-53 win.

Bode Adeluola led all scorers with 23 in the game and the Hemel defence kept Arrows' import Robert Clyburn to 14, which was part of coach Dave Titmuss' plan:

"When I scouted them I felt that Clyburn was one of the best import players in the country. He kept the scoreboard ticking over and is a terrific rebounder so we had to restrict the type of shots he got and where he got them from - that took five players working together to achieve," he said.

Storm were without the injured Michael Darlow and Dru Spinks, but the return of Rich Wellings from injury was welcome as the former London United and Reading guard netted 16 points, including 4 of 4 from outside the arc.

Hemel are without a league game next week but are competing in the National Cup quarter finals when their unbeaten record will face its toughest test against Bristol Academy Flyers. Arrows host Birmingham A's on Saturday 19 November.

Derbyshire Arrows 87 London United 80

Coach Pete Kelly and the Arrows did manage to secure one weekend win and despite a second half comeback by the hosts, they defeated London United 87-80.

Led by Robert Clyburn's game-high 32 points, Arrows were in front 44-29 heading into halftime, but took their foot off the gas slightly in the final two quarters.

United outscored Arrows 51-43 in the second half but coach Jack Majewski and his young squad left too much for themselves to do.

Eighteen year old Dutchman Kenneth Kwame-Nyamekye scored 31 for United, who drop to 0-5.

Arrows host Birmingham A's on Saturday while United are also at home to Eastside.
