The Arrows young team continued to build on the momentum of last week’s dramatic Patrons Cup victory over Northumbria by recording their first League points with a well deserved victory over Team Solent by 86 – 74. RB Clyburn iii led all scorers in the game with a double - double of 28 points and 11 rebounds in the game.
The Arrows began brightly with James Bamfield striking twice from behind the “3 point arc” while 7 points from Clyburn helped the Arrows take a closely contested quarter by 22 – 21. The Arrows introduced more athleticism into the second quarter as Akin Lisk – Carew, Joseph Baugh and Andy Chiguri helped the Arrows to a 44 – 36 interval lead.
The Arrows speed really hurt Team Solent in the third quarter as the Arrows defence began to blunt all attacking intentions in a session taken by the Arrows 22 – 6. Sam Spare who would finish with 12 rebounds led the defence who made stop after stop.
The Arrows tired somewhat in the fourth quarter and Solent made a run while the Arrows staked up turnovers before running out winners by 86 – 74.
The Arrows offence consistently scored in each quarter while the defensive effort in the third quarter proved decisive. The Arrows now have a 1 – 1 league record.
The Arrows next face Eastside Eagles on 5th November at Killamarsh 5.45pm
