Arrows Battle their way through the Dragons

The Arrows U18s came into the game with a smaller squad in both numbers and height and battled hard to get the victory 55-39 over the Bradford Dragons. The first quarter started tight as both teams settled for outside shooting. The Arrows were able to hit from the outside with Matt Oakey and Will Hopper as the Arrows built a small lead 16-13 at the end of the quarter. Nick Holt showed his dominance on the inside with rebounding and the ability to get to the free throw line as the Arrows score kept slowly turning over. The Arrows changed to a man to man defense which turned the game around as they built their lead further with Holt and Mitch Dennison getting baskets. The Arrows took a half time lead of 8, 31-23.

The second half was a low scoring affair as both teams defended with intensity in the half court and forced their opposition into difficult shots. Nelson Mario started to pick up offensively in the second half with nice free throw shooting from Oakey. The Arrows built their lead again in this quarter and at the final break saw the scoreline at 45-29. The third quarter was a drawn as both teams struggled to get a grasp of the game and their offense. there was more baskets for Mario as well as James Wilson and Callum Newsham. The Arrows battled to the end of the game to win 55-39 in a low scoring affair. The Arrows worked hard to rebound the ball at the defensive end without some of their bigger players who are hoped to be returning soon.
