Arrows men off to a soaring start against London United
Derbyshire Arrows 84 London United 52
The Derbyshire Arrows started their home campaign with an emphatic win over London united 84-52. The Arrows were able to bounce back after their narrow disappointing loss to Birmingham mets. Coach Kelly's men came out flying with Joseph Baugh and RB Clyburn featuring strongly in the scoring. The Arrows ran riot in the first quarter and scores from the returning Akin Lisk-Carew and new signing Andy Chiguri helped the Arrows close out the quarter ahead 25-7.
James Bamfield started proceedings off the Arrows in the 2nd quarter with a 3 pointer off a Louis Francis-Edge assist to lay down intent from the Arrows. However London United struck back with a 14-4 run. The Arrows however were not ready to let the London club back in the game and baskets from Sam Spare and Clyburn again put the Arrows back on track ending the half 25points ahead 48-23. Rb Clyburn really impressed in the first half finishing with no less than 19 points.
The second half slowed in scoring as the Arrows kept London United at an arms length. more scoring for Sam Spare and a slam dunk from the atheltic Joseph Baugh kept the proceedings in order as the Arrows tuck the quarter 17-13. Andrew Purnell continued his good form with scoring and rebounding as the Arrows continued to see out the game comfortably. The game was well controlled in the fourth quarter with James Kelly and Louis Francis-Edge keeping the back court in order. The game flowed into a finish with the Arrows being the victors with the scoreline Derbyshire Arrows 84 London United 52.
